Jan-Lennard Struff narrowly missed entering the third round of the Miami tennis tournament. The German Davis Cup professional lost to the former top ten player Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria 6: 4, 6: 7 (5: 7), 4: 6.

In the meantime, only two points separated Struff, who had played his way into the main field via qualification, from entering the last 32 at the Masters event.

Against Dimitrow, Struff was able to free himself several times from tricky situations on his own serve in the second set, but then gave up a 5-3 lead in the tie-break and lost his serve to make it 2-3 in the third set. After 2:33 hours of play, the 32-year-old from Sauerland lost to the former number three in the world.

On the fifth day of the joint tournament for women and men, Olympic champion Alexander Zverev intervened after a bye in the first round.
