Spectacle: goals without end in league two - HSV after 4: 2 in second place

A number of clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga bid farewell to the long winter break with a goal spectacle. On matchday 17, 29 goals were scored in the first six games. Promotion favorites Hamburger SV celebrated a 4-2 (1-0) win against SV Sandhausen, who are in danger of relegation.

The spectators also saw plenty of goals in the 5:4 (3:2) between FC Heidenheim and SV Jahn Regensburg and in the 4:4 (3:3) between Karlsruher SC and FC St. Pauli.

The HSV ended with the success against the table-16. Sandhausen as second in the first half of the season on a promotion place. An own goal and the second goal in this game by Robert Glatzel brought the decision in the final phase after Sandhausen had been able to equalize twice before. HSV's joy was overshadowed by the subsequent news that central defender Mario Vuskovic, who did not play in the game, passed a doping test.

Later Heidenheim victory

Chaser Heidenheim is only one point behind Hamburg, leaders Darmstadt 98 play against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Sunday. Heidenheim cheered late. In a wild game, Stefan Schimmer scored the fifth FCH goal in the fourth minute of injury time.

In the second division game in Karlsruhe, which started late, the real spectacle only began when the dense clouds of noise caused by pyrotechnics by KSC supporters had disappeared. Fabian Schleusner with a double strike and Marvin Wanitzek brought the KSC, who previously suffered five defeats in a row, into the lead early on. But St. Pauli also scored three goals before the break through Johannes Eggestein and Eric Smith. Both Karlsruhe and St. Pauli had only scored one goal in each of the past four games.

Only one goal was scored in the evening game, it was enough for Hansa Rostock to win 1-0 (0-0) at Eintracht Braunschweig. Thanks to Svante Ingelsson's goal after an hour, Hansa is secured in midfield with 21 points. It was the first victory under the new coach Patrick Glöckner. Braunschweig still has to look towards the relegation zone with 18 points.

Promoted team 1. FC Kaiserslautern celebrated their third win in a row on Friday evening. Philipp Klement made it 2-1 (0-1) at Fortuna Düsseldorf with a penalty kick in injury time. Holstein Kiel and Hannover 96 separated 1:1 (1:1) and failed to move closer to the promotion places.
