Real Madrid: Los Blancos miss Luka Modric in the upcoming games

Real Madrid are expected to be without Luka Modric for up to ten days after the midfielder returned from international break with a hip injury.

The news of Modric's injury was announced on Wednesday afternoon after the 37-year-old returned to Madrid for training from the Croatia national team. After a training session, tests confirmed that Modric suffered a hip strain which is likely to see him miss the weekend's game against Osasuna.

Modric is also likely to miss the next league game against Getafe and the upcoming Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Los Blancos will now have to wait and see if Modric can return in time for El Clasico in mid-October. Real Madrid are hoping their star midfielder will be fit by the Champions League second leg against Shakhtar on October 11 so he can get in shape ahead of the much-anticipated derby.

Modric featured in both of Croatia's games during the international break, scoring a goal in the win against Austria that propelled the Kockatsi to the Nations League Final Four.

Real Madrid have won their first six La Liga games this season and are aiming to defend last season's title. Carlo Ancelotti's side are also looking to defend their Champions League title after winning the premier class for the 14th time in May.
