Premier League: Liverpool only a draw - Havertz with a winning goal for Chelsea

Liverpool FC is not gaining momentum in the English Premier League. In the Merseyside derby at Everton, coach Jürgen Klopp's club had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

With the third draw after six matchdays, the Reds remain only in the middle of the table. Local rivals Everton are still waiting for their first win of the season. "Rule number one, if you can't win the derby, don't lose it," said Klopp. "If you count our chances and the chances they had, we probably would have been the deserved winners."

Uruguayan soccer star Darwin Núñez was able to play for the Klopp team again after his suspension expired. But the hosts had the first chance: Everton professional Tom Davies hit the post with his outside instep (32nd minute). At the other end, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford deflected an attempt by Núñez onto the crossbar. Immediately afterwards, Luis Díaz hit the ball against the post (41').

Lots of chances to score on both sides

After the change of sides, there were numerous chances for both sides. Everton's Pickford made two saves from Roberto Firmino (64') and then Fabinho (65'). Neal Maupay failed free-standing to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson (65th). The Brazilian was also there against Dwight McNeil (84'). Mohamed Salah had the greatest chance of scoring the winning goal: Pickford, however, deflected the Liverpool striker's ball again to the post (90.5).

Thanks to Kai Havertz, Thomas Tuchel's FC Chelsea scored a happy 2-1 (0-0) against West Ham United with Thilo Kehrer. The international, who came on in the 72nd minute, scored the winning goal four minutes before the end. Without new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (FC Barcelona), the Blues were behind through Michail Antonio (62'), Ben Chilwell equalized for the Tuchel team (76').

Erling Haaland's tenth goal of the season was not enough for champions Manchester City at Aston Villa. The former Dortmund professional gave the second-placed coach Pep Guardiola the lead after 50 minutes, but former Leverkusen player Leon Bailey equalized in the 74th minute.
