According to media reports, Borussia Dortmund's young star Youssoufa Moukoko should get a place in the German World Cup squad for Qatar.
According to Sport1 and “Sportbuzzer”, the 17-year-old attacker, who has not yet played an international match for the senior national team, is in the squad that national coach Hansi Flick will officially announce from 12 p.m. in Frankfurt/Main. Moukoko has scored six goals and provided four assists in 13 Bundesliga games this season.
According to information from "Bild", however, Mats Hummels will not be in the 26-strong World Cup squad. The 33-year-old central defender belonged to the world champion team of the then national coach Joachim Löw in Brazil in 2014. Hummels played his last international match so far last year at the European Championships in the round of 16 against England, with which Löw said goodbye to the post.
Reus apparently not there either
BVB captain Marco Reus obviously remains unlucky in the tournament. According to information from Sky and Sport1, the 33-year-old offensive player will also not be part of the squad.
Reus injured his foot in mid-September. After two short game comebacks, he fell out again and is currently pausing. Flick appreciates Reus' qualities very much, but the injury-prone attacker lacks the necessary fitness for a tournament with a maximum of seven games in four weeks. The waiver of him would therefore be absolutely understandable.
Reus had already missed the 2014 World Cup in Brazil due to a foot injury in the last friendly before leaving for South America. In 2016, the then national coach Joachim Löw cut him out of the training camp before the European Championships in France because of his lack of fitness. In 2018 in Russia Reus played his first and probably only World Cup. The German team was eliminated after the group stage, Reus scoring one of only two German goals.
