Luis Rubiales stubbornly refuses to resign, although he no longer has a chance and cannot exercise his office: The disciplinary committee of the world football association Fifa has suspended the Spanish association boss because of the kiss scandal after the women's World Cup final. FIFA announced this on Saturday. Rubiales is thus banned from all football-related activities at national and international level. The ban is provisional for 90 days, pending disciplinary proceedings launched by Fifa on Thursday.
At the same time, the world association ordered that Rubiales may not contact national player Jennifer Hermoso or her immediate surroundings, either personally or through a third party. The same applies to the RFEF association and its officials and employees.
Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the mouth at the award ceremony after winning the World Cup final last Sunday. He later admitted a mistake, but the association boss refused to resign at the extraordinary general meeting on Friday. In its proceedings, the Fifa Disciplinary Committee is investigating Rubiales' violation of Article 13 of its own regulations, which is headed "Offending behavior and violations of the principles of fair play". Rubiales is also Vice President of the European Football Union Uefa.
