The dress rehearsal of the German national team before the World Cup was successful - but only when it comes to the aspect of victory over Oman. The tight 1-0 is a very good expression of how mixed, tough and, especially in the first half, the performance of the DFB team was sometimes just bad.

Hansi Flick only rested a few players and gave Youssoufa Moukoko his debut for the team right at the start.

Oman had good chances to score a goal or two in both halves. Finally, Niclas Füllkrug, another debutant, was the only player to score. His debut goal in the 80th minute also meant the end result.

The test match certainly didn't inspire any real courage or anticipation for the World Cup. The hope of some fans: If Germany tested badly before major tournaments, the subsequent games were - at least subjectively - much better and more successful.
