Formula 1: Mercedes team boss: No talks with Ferrari star Leclerc

Mercedes motorsport director Toto Wolff has not negotiated a possible change with Ferrari star Charles Leclerc and continues to rely fully on Formula 1 record world champion Lewis Hamilton.

"I didn't have a single conversation with Charles, except at the airport we discussed whether we're going to Starbucks or not," Wolff said on Sky: "I don't know where the rumors come from and if it's spreading."

There has been speculation that Leclerc could replace Hamilton at Mercedes. But there is nothing wrong with that at the moment, as the 25-year-old Monegasse Leclerc himself emphasized beforehand. "The point is: we have been traveling with the Lewis for ten years and that will not change," said the 51-year-old Austrian Wolff. "Sometime in a few years" you will have to look at the driver's situation, but currently nobody sees a need for action with the Silver Arrows.

The 38-year-old Hamilton had recently made it clear that he wanted to drive for Mercedes for several more years. The seven-time world champion's contract expires at the end of the season. In addition to the second regular driver George Russell (25), the works team also has a third driver under contract - namely Mick Schumacher (24), who is employed as a reserve driver this year. "And it's not bad at all," said Wolff on the sidelines of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.
