FC Barcelona update on Kounde and Garcia's injuries

FC Barcelona have updated the injury status of Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia, both of whom had to be substituted against Valencia.

Garcia only played 42 minutes in Saturday's 1-0 win against Valencia before limping off injured and being replaced by Marcos Alonso. Kounde further aggravated the personal situation in defense when he had to leave the field himself after 74 minutes.

Fortunately, the duo doesn't seem to have gotten it that bad.

Barcelona confirmed the extent of Kounde and Garcia's injuries via Twitter, saying that Kounde sustained a biceps femoris strain in his left thigh and Garcia sustained an external obturator muscle strain in his left hip.

No word has been given as to when the two will be able to return to action but as they are only strains the injuries do not appear to be serious and should not keep the duo out of action for long.

Prolonged absences from Kounde and Garcia would have worried head coach Xavi, who is already without Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Sergi Roberto, while Hector Bellerin has just recovered.

The Blaugrana's next game will be played away at Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday in the final Champions League game of the season. Alonso and Gerard Pique are likely to start in the middle of defence.
