Defending champion Primoz Roglic launched his attack on the overall lead at the end of the second week of the 77th Tour of Spain and kept the chance of the fourth Vuelta victory in a row.

On the 14th stage, the Slovenian took almost a minute from Remco Evenepoel, who was first in the classification, and is now only 1:49 minutes behind. Eight seconds behind the day's winner Richard Carapaz, Roglic finished third at the mountain finish at 1815 meters on the Sierra de La Pandera. Belgian Evenepoel finished eighth after 160.3 kilometers.

Olympic champion Carapaz from Ecuador celebrated his second day's success within three days. He broke away about 90 kilometers from the finish and saved his lead over Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez and Roglic, who was running at the same time.

On the 15th stage on Sunday there is another mountain finish. After 153 kilometers from Martos, the section ends at an altitude of 252 meters on the Hoya de la Mora in the Sierra Nevada. The climb is almost 20 kilometers long. 1000 meters in altitude are bridged.
