Champions League: RB Leipzig starts against Real with Haidara as Laimer's replacement

RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose starts in the Champions League with defending champions Real Madrid with Amadou Haidara in the first eleven.

The former Salzburg professional replaces the injured Konrad Laimer (Syndesmoseband) in defensive midfield. Otherwise, Rose relies on the Bundesliga starting eleven from 3-0 against his ex-club Borussia Dortmund.

But the failure of the Laimer pressing machine weighs heavily. "He's a key player. His range, his behavior when pressing, his aggressiveness - we have to deal with it differently, through clever group tactical behavior," said Rose. But nothing will change in his game idea.

Real coach Carlo Ancelotti rotates larger. He leaves Toni Kroos outside for now, instead Luka Modric starts. In defense he will probably rely on Nacho and Antonio Rüdiger in central defence, David Alaba should start at left-back. Rodrygo plays up front for the injured Karim Benzema.
