DFB Cup winner RB Leipzig missed out on a notable success in the group stage of the Champions League. With their new coach Marco Rose, the Saxons lost 0-2 (0-0) after conceding late goals at defending champions Real Madrid.

Federico Valverde (80') and Marco Asensio (90'1) scored for the hosts. Rose only took over the RB team last week after Leipzig lost 4-1 to Shakhtar Donetsk in the premier class under predecessor Domenico Tedesco.
