FC Schalke 04 has achieved the next important success in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga. In the basement duel at VfL Bochum, the Gelsenkirchen team celebrated their first away win in the Oberhaus since November 2019 with a 2-0 (1-0) win and are no longer bottom for the first time since the tenth matchday.
TSG Hoffenheim is still deep in the crisis, losing 0-1 (0-1) at FSV Mainz 05 and thus conceding the sixth bankruptcy in a row.
FC Augsburg clinched their fourth home win in a row in a 2-1 (1-1) win against Werder Bremen. Third-placed Union Berlin drew 0-0 at home against 1. FC Köln in the race for a place in the Champions League. The game between Borussia Mönchengladbach and SC Freiburg also remained goalless. Borussia Dortmund had already won the top game against RB Leipzig 2-1 (2-0) on Friday.
Riemann initiates Schalke victory
Schalke had hoped in vain for a win in 38 Bundesliga games away from home. Then Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann helped the Royal Blues with a curious own goal in the 45th minute. Marius Bülter (79th) made everything clear for the guests.
