Bundesliga: Freiburg leaders - Bayern draw in the top game

After the fifth match day of the Bundesliga, FC Bayern is no longer the leader of the table. SC Freiburg took the top spot by beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 (0-1).

In the top game at 1. FC Union Berlin, the Munich team couldn't get past a 1-1 (1-1) draw. At the top behind Sport-Club, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern and Union, 1. FC Köln remains after a 4-2 (3-1) win at VfL Wolfsburg.

Bottom VfL Bochum lost 2-0 (0-0) against Werder Bremen, VfB Stuttgart and FC Schalke 04 drew 1-1 (1-1). It also looks critical for RB Leipzig. The cup winner lost the duel between two Champions League starters at Eintracht Frankfurt clearly 0: 4 (0: 2) and has nothing to do with the top places for the time being.

In the twelfth minute, Sheraldo Becker gave Berlin the lead with a direct acceptance after a free kick, Joshua Kimmich (15th) quickly equalized. The game flattened out a bit in the second half, with both teams struggling to create convincing scoring chances.

Kerem Demirbay (16th) met first for Bayer Leverkusen. Shortly after the break, however, Matthias Ginter (48th) and Michael Gregoritsch (51st) gave Freiburg the lead for the first time before Patrik Schick (65th) scored again to equalize in the meantime. Ritsu Dōan (72nd) brought the sports club forward again.

Leipzig disappointed in Frankfurt

Leipzig, who are still without a win away from home, disappointed across the board in Frankfurt - and only three days before their first group game in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk. Daichi Kamada (16th), Sebastian Rode (22nd), Tuta (67th) and Rafael Borré (84th) scored a penalty kick for the Europa League winner from Frankfurt, who made his premier class debut on Wednesday.

In Wolfsburg, Lukas Nmecha (2nd) gave VfL an early lead after assisting Bartol Franjić. But Dejan Ljubicic (22') and Wolfsburg's Paulo Otávio (32') scored an own goal to turn the game in favor of FC. Florian Kainz (45. 2) even followed up. Lukas Nmecha (79') briefly made the game exciting again before Sargis Adamyan (81') made the decision.

Chris Führich (18th) scored the 1-0 for Stuttgart, Simon Terodde (21st) then scored for Schalke. VfB had to continue with ten players in the last 20 minutes: Josha Vagnoman saw yellow-red (67th). In Bochum, Niclas Füllkrug (86th and 90th penalty kick) scored late to Bremen's victory. VfL are still waiting for the first point.
