Basketball official Marko Pesic already believes that the surprising World Cup title will have a positive effect on the Bundesliga.
“The league is certainly already benefiting from this because it is partly the fruit of the clubs’ work. I think we are all on a very good path,” Pesic told the German Press Agency before the start of the new season on Wednesday. The managing director of title favorite FC Bayern Munich also sees the TV contract with the new media partner Dyn as a sign of hope that interest has grown over the past few years even before the World Cup title.
"The way we are developing, you can put it under the motto 'slowly but surely'. We are on a good path and we have to stay on this path," said Pesic. The national team of national coach Gordon Herbert unexpectedly won World Cup gold at the World Cup in Asia after eight wins from eight games. It was the greatest success in the history of German basketball. The league itself is now hoping for lasting effects in the following season. “The World Cup title provides momentum and tailwind,” said league managing director Stefan Holz.
