Darwin Nunez has revealed Luis Suarez sent him a 'really important' message after his dismissal against Crystal Palace. Since then, things have been looking up for the 80 million euro new signing.

Nunez's first Premier League start after joining Liverpool could not have gone any worse as he was sent off for a headbutt on Palace defender Joachim Andersen and handed a three-game ban.

Of course, he's not the first Liverpool FC Uruguayan forward to make headlines for the wrong reasons: Luis Suarez did the same on several occasions while playing in England.

Nunez has now revealed his national team-mate gave him some advice after the Crystal Palace game.

"That was a good thing because not many would bother to pick up the phone and text you - I think his gesture was really important to me," Nunez told ESPN. "Luis is a point of reference, an idol all over the world. I'm just starting out, I'm still young. But he knows all these things because he's played in the Premier League with Liverpool before."

"He said, 'Listen to an idiot like me.' I really appreciate that message and the affection he's showing me."

Nunez has already settled in well at Liverpool, scoring four goals in the last five games.
