War in the Ukraine: Young politicians versus Wagenknecht/Schwarzer manifesto

he youth organizations of the CDU, CSU and FDP have opposed the peace manifesto by Sahra Wagenknecht and Alice Schwarzer with their own manifesto on the Ukraine war.

The chairmen of the Young Union and the Young Liberals, Johannes Winkel and Franziska Brandmann, expressly committed themselves to arms deliveries to Ukraine. Only a Ukrainian victory can restore the peace order in Europe, according to the petition launched on Friday, which had already collected more than 14,000 signatures by late afternoon.

This compares to more than 620,000 signatories who had joined the "Manifesto for Peace" in the past two weeks. In the appeal, the left-wing politician Wagenknecht and the women's rights activist Schwarzer promote negotiations between the warring parties and warn of a "slip slide towards world war and nuclear war".

Winkel and Brandmann contradict this assessment in their "Manifesto for Freedom in Europe". There it says that the cessation of arms deliveries would not result in peace, but "the taking of a European democracy".
