Uyghurs in Xinjiang: For the victims, the UN report on the crimes in China means above all: Nothing will change

This report was long awaited and yet contains little news. Since 2018, the world community has known from satellite images and reports from refugees that the People's Republic of China has detention camps in the north-western province of Xinjiang, where terrible atrocities are taking place. In the language of the report presented by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, there is talk of "credible evidence" intended to prove torture in the camps. Collectively, the atrocities amount to "crimes against humanity," the document goes on to say.
