Olaf Scholz cultivates a quirk. You can see that again and again when you follow the chancellor through the country where he meets the citizens, be it in Lübeck, Neuruppin, Magdeburg or Essen. He then likes to walk around between the listeners, holding the microphone in his right hand – and when he has finished answering, he presses firmly on the soft foam hood with his left hand. It looks like he wants to put a cap on the message he spoke into the microphone before it flies away. Scholz knows how strong the headwind is in the country.
