Survey: Pistorius in first place in the ranking of the most popular politicians

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is at the top of Bild am Sonntag's annual politician ranking. In the survey by the opinion research institute Insa, 42 percent of those surveyed said that the SPD politician should have as much influence as possible in German politics in the new year, 38 percent answered no. Pistorius was ranked in the poll for the first time.

He has been in office since mid-January. Just behind him is Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU). 41 percent would like him to have as much influence as possible, 44 percent don't want that.

Traffic light politicians with losses

Approval of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) has fallen by 10 points to 26 percent compared to the previous year's survey. According to 27 percent of those surveyed (-5), Economics Minister Robert Habeck should play as large a role as possible, while 29 percent (-7) want Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (both Greens) to do so. Finance Minister Christian Lindner also has to accept losses, with 28 percent (-5) wanting him to have a lot of influence.

Opposition leader and Union faction leader Friedrich Merz gained one point and reached 33 percent. The former left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht, who founded a competing project with the “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht”, loses one point and ends up with 30 percent approval.
