Social media post: "America needs a superhero": Trump announces important announcement - with bizarre video

Things are not going so well for Donald Trump right now: Many party members are angry with him because they blame him for the Republicans' unexpectedly poor performance in the midterm elections in November. His dinner in Mar-a-Lago with rapper Ye aka Kanye West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes, both of whom have made anti-Semitic remarks, has drawn him a lot of public criticism. The judiciary is after him, partly because of the secret papers seized in his private home and the storming of the Capitol. And according to a new poll, voters are turning their backs on him, too.

It's time to counter the lousy headlines with something, Trump probably thought, and announced via social media that he would be making a special announcement this Thursday. "America needs a superhero," the 76-year-old wrote on Wednesday (local time) on the online platform Truth Social, which he co-founded. "I'll be making an important announcement tomorrow. Thank you!"

In a video below the text peppered with capital letters, the former president also made it clear who this superhero is supposed to be: Donald Trump. In the clip, the real Trump first speaks the words "America needs a superhero". Then a comic Trump appears, ripping his white shirt open across his chest in front of a Trump Tower, revealing a skin-tight red superhero jersey with a T on it. As he does so, jets of fire shoot out of "Supertrump's" eyes.

The self-proclaimed savior of America does not reveal what his "important announcement" is supposed to be about. Maybe he wants to announce that Palm Beach is now the capital of the United States and Mar-a-Lago is the new White House - after all, he was never legally voted out (wink smiley), so he's still US President, and where he lives is the center of power in the United States. Or he's simply sharing that he'll be returning to Twitter after Elon Musk lifted his ban. Maybe he just wanted to stage himself as a hero again, says something trivial - and fooled the media into showing his Super Trump video ... oops.
