On Friday morning, Christophe sweeps up a few charred garbage bags in front of his café on Rue de Caumartin. It stinks of burned plastic and fermented food, many Parisians are currently wearing FFP-2 masks again, and not because of the pandemic: garbage disposal has been on strike for over a week. The gray and green sacks are now piled up meters high along the sidewalks and provide excellent fuel for the angry demonstrators who are taking to the streets these days against Emmanuel Macron's pension reform.
