Parties: Hessian state parliament: AfD MP Rahn leaves the group

The AfD faction in the Hessian state parliament loses another member: In addition to Walter Knowledge Bach, Rainer Rahn has also announced his departure from the AfD. This means that both are no longer members of the AfD parliamentary group.

Like Wissenbach, Rahn also announced that he wanted to continue working as a non-attached member of parliament. Rahn told the German Press Agency on Friday that his step had been coordinated with Knowledge Bach.

"In large parts of the party, the ideology of fact-based politics now dominates - not least recognizable by the examples of the corona pandemic and the Ukraine conflict," Rahn justified his step in a press release. This "turning away from fact-based and fact-oriented politics" becomes "particularly clear" in the AfD parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament, according to Rahn: "Their parliamentary "work" is largely characterized by technical incompetence, which is reflected in countless motions and proposals with nonsensical and sometimes even shows unconstitutional content."
