Pandemic: 5.6 billion worldwide have at least one corona vaccination

According to the statistics portal Our World in Data, almost 5.6 billion people worldwide have been vaccinated against Corona at least once. That is more than half of the total world population, which, according to UN calculations, passed the 8 billion mark in November. According to figures from the EU health authority ECDC, around 338 million people (almost 76 percent) have received at least one injection in the EU, 65 million of them according to the vaccination dashboard of the Federal Ministry of Health in Germany. In this country, more than 192 million doses of vaccine against Corona have been administered.

63.6 million people in Germany (about 76 percent of the population) are considered "basic immunization" - they usually have two injections. More than 52 million people (63 percent) have also picked up at least one so-called booster vaccination. In an EU comparison, Germany is slightly above average (73 percent basic immunization, 55 percent at least one so-called booster).

In some western EU countries, the willingness to vaccinate was greater, as figures from the EU health authority ECDC show, for example in Italy (84 and 76 percent) or Denmark (81 and 63 percent). In France (79 and 61 percent) and Austria (75 and 60 percent) the numbers are at a similar level. In the eastern neighbors in Poland (60 and 33 percent), the Czech Republic (65 and 41 percent) or Hungary (63 and 40 percent), in some cases significantly fewer people wanted to be vaccinated.
