Nuclear program: Iran confirms: hacker attack on nuclear power plant

The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) on Sunday confirmed media reports of a hacker attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Accordingly, the hackers managed to gain free access to the e-mail traffic.

According to the Isna news agency, the nuclear authority stated that the hackers should not have captured any secret documents. The agency blames a "specific country" for the attack, without giving any further details. Iran blamed its arch-enemies Israel and the United States for earlier hacking attacks on facilities in the country.

According to reports, the Iranian group "Black Reward" is behind the hacker attack. This demands for the hacked information, including about Russia's role in the AKK Bushehr, the release of people who have been arrested in the system-critical protests in the past four weeks.

The Bushehr nuclear power plant in the port city of the same name on the Persian Gulf is a joint project of Iran and Russia. It is intended for civilian purposes and, according to official information, is mainly intended for generating and supplying energy to the two southern provinces of Bushehr and Fars.
