At the end of January, after much hesitation, the German government announced that it would support Ukraine with Leopard battle tanks in the war against Russia. Together with other European countries, 80 copies – 18 of them from Germany – are to be handed over by the end of the year. At the same time, the USA also announced the delivery of 31 M1 Abrams main battle tanks.
