Kristina Karamo was supported for Michigan secretary-of-state, and Matthew DePerno is their pick for state attorney general.

Both candidates have now a clear path to becoming the official nominee at the August second party convention. To overturn Saturday's decision, 75% of the delegate must vote.

Karamo declared Saturday that he would not let anyone down at the Michigan GOP state convention, according to the Associated Press. "I am fighting for the peoples of Michigan, regardless of my political affiliation."

On Saturday, nearly 2,500 state Republican activists attended the convention where the nominations were decided. Michigan voters do not decide which candidates will be elected to the state supreme court, attorney-general, secretary of state, board of education, and university board members. Instead, the nominations will be decided by the parties at the conventions.

DePerno was the lawyer in a case that tried to challenge the 2020 presidential election results. He fought against Tom Leonard, former Michigan House Speaker, and Ryan Berman for his nomination spot.

Karamo, a professor at a community college, voted against Beau LaFave (State Representative) and Cindy Berry (Chesterfield Township Clerk). Karamo gained popularity after she claimed that she witnessed fraud at a Detroit location. Karamo has made numerous cable news appearances, making unfounded claims about widespread fraud.

Trump, who has supported both DePerno & Karamo, congratulated both of them following Saturday's convention.

In a statement, the ex-president stated that "they will continue to win big victories as Attorney General and Secretary Of State." "I will strongly support them."
