Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) faced the members of the Bundestag in the first government survey of the year. The central topic was the delivery of Leopard main battle tanks to Ukraine.

After weeks of debate, the federal government decided on Wednesday to deliver the showpiece of German tank construction to Ukraine and also to allow other countries to sell them to Kyiv. According to Scholz, Germany wants to deliver 14 Leopard 2 main battle tanks from the Bundeswehr stocks as a first step.
