Joe Biden has an opportunity to fulfill a campaign promise and strengthen his legacy. Yesterday's news about Justice Stephen Breyer retiring from the supreme Court.

  • CNN reports that Biden and Breyer will make a public appearance today in order to officially announce Breyer's retirement.

  • Breyer, at 83, is the oldest member the highest court of the country. He is one of six conservatives to outnumber the liberals.

  • Biden had made it clear that there would be a Black woman at the supreme Court if he were elected president.

  • Court watchers already suggested a few possibilities of who Biden might nominate to replace Breyer. These included several US court of appels judges, US district court judges and an associate Supreme Court Justice of California.
