With the cold season, retailers are preparing for the pre-Christmas business. In November, days of action such as Black Friday are intended to increase the mood of customers to buy. What else is coming up this month - an overview:
Tariffs for basic suppliers
Starting in November, basic suppliers of electricity or gas will not be allowed to make a price difference between existing and new customers. Against the background of the energy crisis, some new customers had to pay significantly more for energy.
Gas storage should be full
According to the federal government's specifications, German gas storage facilities must be 95 percent full by November 1st in order to get through the winter better. Overall, this threshold has been reached. However, the rule applies to each individual memory - and not all of them were sufficiently filled last (as of October 22nd).
Higher fees at the vet
If you take your dog, cat or golden hamster to the vet, you have to reckon with significantly higher costs. From November 22nd, the new fee schedule for veterinarians will apply. An example: For a general examination of dogs or cats, 23.62 euros are then due. So far, owners had to pay 13.47 euros for the examination of their dog and 8.98 euros for their cat.
Sick pay for companions
Relatives who accompany people with disabilities during a hospital stay can receive sick pay from November 1st if they lose earnings. The prerequisite is that the treatment is medically necessary. Eligible companions include parents, siblings and life partners.
Paid toilets on highways
Going to the toilet becomes more expensive at most motorway service stations. From November 18, the toilet operator Sanifair wants to increase the usage fee for the around 400 toilet facilities it operates along the motorways from 70 cents to 1 euro.
End of banknote exchange program
Refugees from Ukraine can exchange hryvnia banknotes for euros free of charge until November 18th. A corresponding offer from the Ministry of Finance, the Federal Bank and the National Bank of Ukraine ends after the date. Until then, refugees can exchange up to 10,000 hryvnia (about 275 euros) in participating banks.
TV program in SD quality is thinned out
The broadcasting of four public channels in SD quality is discontinued. From November 15, Arte, Phoenix and the ARD channels One and Tagesschau24 can only be received in HD quality. The shutdown will primarily affect viewers who receive their programs via satellite.
