The initiative of the province of León, to leave Castile and León and as a new autonomous community with Zamora and Salamanca continues to gain adherents. Urdiales del Paramo, of about 500 inhabitants, will be added to this plan on January 10. Manjón has explained in a letter that his party has always promoted “the plurality and the debate” and that the socialist leadership has not been pressured to withdraw from the process. The municipalities of león, which have been incorporated formally to this initiative are Leon Castrocontrigo, Boxes, Cabreros del Rio, Santa Maria del Paramo, Valderrey, Matadeón of the Oteros Crémenes and Cabrillanes. In these last three municipalities, the PP voted in favor of the motion autonomist. Santos celebrates the growth of the leonesismo and applauds the local mayors who have refused to meet the national directions. “Both PP and PSOE are trying to make sure that no one vote in favor, but it is difficult to influence over the mayors and councillors who do not live in the policy and who want to defend this feeling,” he explains.
