Without a hairdresser: DIY instructions: This is how you can easily dye your roots yourself

Normally it is hardly noticeable when the hair on the head grows back: they manage around half a millimeter in a day, and that's at least one and a half centimeters a month. However, if you color your hair, you can follow the growth almost live - thanks to the ever-widening approach. This is particularly noticeable if you naturally have a very dark hair color and bleach it or vice versa. In addition, many people dye or tone their hair to conceal (first) gray hair. In both cases, the approach reveals what is hidden behind the color, so that it has to be touched up at regular intervals. A hairdresser normally does this – for a fee, of course. If you want to save the money, you can dye the roots yourself. How this works best is explained here.

If possible, always use the same color that your hairdresser used - otherwise you will not get a uniform transition.

Before dyeing, put on an old t-shirt or use a barber's cape to protect your clothes from potential dye stains.

Protect your hands with a pair of gloves—especially if you're using a strong dye or bleach.

Tip: If you only want to have your roots colored by a professional, you can use these alternatives until your hairdresser is open again:

Or you can use a special concealing spray with microfine color pigments that covers up lighter and gray roots until you wash your hair the next time.

Step 1: First, use clips to divide your hair into four sections: part from the left ear to the right and one from the middle part to the nape of the neck.

Step 2: Apply the color to the roots at the back of the head first - hair is healthier here and absorbs color more slowly than on the top of the head.

Step 3: Always take a strand in your hand and color only the roots with a hair coloring brush, leaving the rest of the hair out.

Step 4: Work your way from the back of your head to your forehead, strand by strand, only leaving the color on for as long as the package says.

Step 5: Wash your hair thoroughly after the recommended exposure time and then use a rich care treatment for your hair.
