Knitted dresses have been around longer than many people think: as early as the 1960s and 1970s, fine or coarse-meshed materials such as cotton, polyacrylic, viscose or wool were used to make warm clothes for cold days. And back then, too, strong colors and graphic patterns were very popular with wearers - as were turtlenecks. The only difference was that most knitted dresses were cut very short, while today long dresses and oversized looks dominate the world's catwalks. Depending on the manufacturer, however, the length, cut and knitting pattern can still vary. In the following, we will tell you which fashion trends are (or will be) hot again this winter.

While knitted dresses used to be body-hugging to emphasize the female silhouette, many women today prefer the so-called oversize look: loose cuts that don't cling to the body - but rather hide the silhouette. It's less about inferiority complexes and more about the desire to wear something comfortable. In addition, large knitted dresses leave more space for other items of clothing underneath to keep the body warm on cold days. And if we're honest, it ultimately comes down to being comfortable with what we're wearing. It is therefore hardly surprising that the oversize look is one of the knit dress trends.

Even if it is said that coarse stitches can be bulky, there is a large selection of (fine-meshed) knitted dresses for curvy women. To camouflage the hips but accentuate the waist, A-line or straight cuts and dark colors are good choices. If you prefer to distract from the middle of the body, you can draw attention to your neckline - with eye-catching patterns, ruffles or applications. Midi dresses can even visually stretch the figure, and in combination with seamless underwear or shapewear, the knitted dress can also be tighter - without adding bulk. This way you can show off your feminine curves perfectly this winter.

Just in time for the golden season, there are many models in winter tones or with autumnal decor: the current knitted dress trends for 2022 include Norwegian patterns, block stripes and checked patterns. The color palette, on the other hand, ranges from rusty brown and bordeaux red to olive green and ocher to mustard yellow and beige to midnight blue and grey. Whether coarse or fine knit is up to personal taste. And of course there are knitted dresses in a winter look for every figure type - and also oversize versions. As soon as the temperatures drop and the evenings get cooler, the warm garments will bring you stylishly through the cold season (and beyond).

Since chunky knit patterns look more comfortable and casual, they embody the ideal leisure look. For the (rather conservative) everyday office life, on the other hand, tight-knit dresses are the better choice, as they appear more elegant and subtle. Plain colors such as anthracite, black or beige are just as suitable as classic shades of grey. And blue knitted dresses also underline the business look. It doesn't matter whether it's fine cotton or viscose - there are even chic models made of real wool. Patterns such as stripes or checks also provide plenty of variety in the office. However, make sure not to combine too many colors or patterns with each other, otherwise your look may appear restless.
