"Wheel of Fortune": When will the classic show return?

With the "Wheel of Fortune" RTLzwei brings another game show classic back to the TV screens. The new edition is moderated this time by a duo, Sonya Kraus (49) and Thomas Hermanns (59). It is now clear when the new episodes of the "Wheel of Fortune" will be shown.

On January 26 at 8:15 p.m. (a week earlier on RTL ), the show will premiere with its new edition on RTLzwei. The candidates search again for the right words, terms or phrases. The participants have to prove themselves in three preliminary rounds before they can move into the big champions final.

Spinning the Wheel of Fortune decides the amount of money the person gets for guessing a consonant. To make things easier for themselves, the contestants can buy vowels with the money they earn. Only the candidate with the highest account balance at the end of the round advances to the final and plays for the big prize. The game can also take a decisive turn, because the wheel of fortune can also stop on the bankruptcy field. The account balance earned is then completely lost.

In the Champions final, the winners from the preliminary rounds meet. In the end, only one person can take the money home with them. An innovation: the classic "letter fairy" is no longer on the show, Sonya Kraus and Thomas Hermanns take turns moderating and performing on the wall of letters.

The "Glücksrad", which is based on the US version "Wheel of Fortune", was first broadcast in Germany from 1988 on Sat.1. In 1998, Kabel Eins continued the show. Moderator Peter Bond (70) and "letter fairy" Maren Gilzer (62) were no longer there, instead Sonya Kraus took over the role of Gilzer and Frederic Meisner (69) and later Thomas Ohrner (57) the moderation job. The last issue followed at the end of 2002. From 2004 to 2005 and from 2016 to 2018 there was also a continuation or new edition on other channels.
