Actor Matthias Schweighöfer and his girlfriend Ruby O. Fee are one of the most exciting couples in the German film industry. The two stars were photographed together on a meadow in Berlin for the new “Vogue” cover. In the accompanying interview, they speak openly about their different personalities - and about the secret of their love.
“On the red carpet or during spontaneous interviews, Matthias does all the talking,” says 27-year-old Ruby O. Fee. "I'm far too shy for that. Despite a lot of coaching, I can't speak well in front of people and cameras without being prepared." Matthias, on the other hand, could “maintain an entire stadium.”
Schweighöfer, on the other hand, says that Ruby taught him not to judge people too quickly: "I was always very quick to judge. Through Ruby and her good nature, I learned to start with people on an equal level. That was life-changing."
Joint therapy helps the couple grow together even more, says Ruby O. Fee: "It's nice for us as a couple - but it also helps me a lot with my own development."
Schweighöfer explains that he is someone "who likes to lead professionally": "And that's how I was at the beginning of our relationship. It was only through reflection during therapy that I realized that such behavior is not possible."
While the 42-year-old is currently working more and more internationally and is in the USA a lot, his partner is setting up her own production company. Not easy for living together: "I've been away from home a lot for almost 20 years - and I'm honestly tired of it. For me, there's no reason why I should be separated from Ruby for four months. There's no film for that important enough in the world," said Schweighöfer.
Common interests and consciously spending time together is therefore even more important for the couple: both are passionate about photography and even collect analogue cameras. And they have their favorite places: "We had our first date in a wine bar in Prenzlauer Berg. Today we prefer to be in our apartment in Berlin, in the house in the country or on our boat on the water. There we are free and have peace and quiet "says the actor.
A ritual that the couple likes to maintain: They write small messages to each other - handwritten. “Most of the time we write down things that we are grateful for,” says Matthias Schweighöfer. Ruby O. Fee wrote down a sentence at the very beginning of the relationship that is formative for both of them: "When you let go, you have both hands free."
