US musicians: Bruce Springsteen announces news to fans

At the beginning of 2023, rock superstar Bruce Springsteen (73, "Born To Run") started a world tour with his E Street Band - and the still very busy musician seems to have used the waiting time. On his social media channels he announced news for this Thursday morning (local time; in Germany 4 p.m.). The accompanying picture shows a radio, snippets of soul music in unreleased Springsteen versions can be heard.

In the days before, the singer, called "The Boss" by millions of fans, had posted mysterious nostalgia pictures of an endless road and a car steering wheel. The British music magazine "New Musical Express" has already announced that Springsteen will cover soul songs on a new album. There had also been speculation on the Internet for weeks. The starting point was an alleged lapse by Jann Wenner, the co-founder of the magazine "Rolling Stone" - he recently slipped a sentence when presenting his memoirs: "And by the way, there is a new record by Bruce that will be released this autumn. It is stunning."

Such an album would be one of the last major pop releases of this year - and Springsteen's first since number one 'Letter To You' (2020), his studio comeback as frontman of the E Street Band. The multiple Grammy winner is said to have sold over 130 million records worldwide since the 1970s. Most recently, he celebrated great success with the book "Renegades: Born in the USA," which he published last year with ex-US President Barack Obama.
