According to US media reports, US actor Jeremy Renner ("Avengers: Endgame", "Arrival") underwent surgery after his serious accident while clearing snow.

His condition is still critical but stable, the broadcaster CNN and the "New York Times" report on Monday evening, citing a spokeswoman for the actor. The 51-year-old is in intensive care. He suffered "blunt trauma" to the chest and "orthopedic injuries."

Renner suffered a "traumatic injury" Sunday morning in Reno, Nevada, and was flown to a nearby clinic, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said earlier. No other person was involved in the incident. The sheriff's office did not provide details. According to reports, the actor owns a property in the state of Nevada.

According to US media, Renner's family thanked the fans for the support and the doctors and nurses who took care of Renner. Renner had posted several updates on social media this winter, which saw heavy snowfall in the Reno area. "Almost done with the sled hill for the kids," Renner wrote last week for an Instagram video showing a snow plow.

Renner starred in the superhero series "Avengers" and in two "Mission: Impossible" films, among others.
