Molly and Mickey aren't just twins - they were born at exactly the same time. According to doctors, this is a rare phenomenon.
Usually, one twin is slightly older than the other. However, Diane McLaren and her husband Daniel's babies began their journey in life together. Both were born at the University Hospital in Wishaw, UK. During the birth, the midwife instructed McLaren to push hard because Mickey's little head was already showing. At the same moment, twin sister Molly stuck her foot out. Now both have the same time on their birth certificates – 11:53 a.m.
For the 34-year-old mother, it was children four and five. "I thought Mickey was stuck," she said. "I pushed hard and there was a loud hiss. I thought I'd delivered my son, but the whole team crowded around me¸ and then the midwife said, 'Both babies are here now.' "Your daughter got it." somehow managed to pivot into the gap and her foot came out at exactly the same time as his head."
Even the experienced midwives were amazed. "Doctors and nurses came from all over the hospital to meet the famous new twins because they had heard how they were born and wanted to see them for themselves," says Diane McLaren. The officials at the registry office were also really shocked and initially did not want to believe the couple – only a confirmation from the hospital brought clarity.
