TV tip: New round in "Battle of the Reality Stars": Teamplay in Thailand

RTLzwei heralds a new round in the "battle of the reality stars". The new season of the show starts on Wednesday (April 12, 8:15 p.m.) with true veterans of their field: In addition to “Bachelor” Paul Janke (41), DJane Giulia Siegel (48) and “Jungle Camp” legend Sarah Knappik (36) are also there . "This is the best cast ever of all the casts that are yet to come," she says in episode one, referring to one of her famous quotes from the jungle.

"Even old hands can surprise," says Cathy Hummels of the German Press Agency in Munich. The moderator tells the candidates again this year in the "Hour of Truth" who is going to leave the show. "With the reality stars, it's important that you perform, but also be honest. Duping the other person doesn't work for us, because you get the reward for it immediately - not necessarily from me, but from the team. Because team play is what counts in the first place."

Unlike formats like "I'm a star - get me out of here!" In this show, which was awarded the German Television Prize in 2022, it is the candidates themselves who decide who can stay and who has to go. Again and again, newcomers mix up the group dynamics.

50,000 euros are up for grabs

"There are also reality shows that don't have a good reputation, but we have a great reputation and that's why we're so successful," says Hummels. "We're fun, but we don't hide things either and aren't just superficial and peace, joy, pancakes. Of course there are also discussions, but it's always human. The quota doesn't count for everything."

If you want to be successful in the format, you have to be authentic and take care of yourself, "but at the same time be a team player," says influencer Hummels. "And in the end only one person can do that." Last year it was Elena Miras.

23 candidates compete against each other on the Thai beach for 50,000 euros - including, in addition to those named, Daisy Dee, techno icon of the 90s, and "Summer House of the Stars" winner Antonia Hemmer.

Possibly because it worked so well at the big "jungle camp", RTLzwei is also trying this year with a show after the show and the format "Battle of the Reality Stars - The Hour After the Hour of Truth", in which reality stars and fans talk about the talk current season.
