Direct payments for pensioners and students, an electricity price brake for households and a heating cost subsidy for recipients of housing benefits: the traffic light coalition is reacting to the massive increase in energy and living costs with a third relief package worth 65 billion euros. "We will not leave anyone alone," affirmed Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) after laborious consultations between the SPD, Greens and FDP since Saturday. He was convinced that Germany would "get through this difficult time".

At 65 billion euros, the third relief package is now larger than the first two combined, emphasized the Chancellor. All packages together stand for a volume of 95 billion euros. This is "necessary" given the situation.

But what does the package bring? And who will it help? This is what the guests are discussing tonight on stern TV (11:30 p.m. on RTL). Jan Rosenkranz, a reporter in the capital city office of the star, is also part of the party.

Other guests are SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert and poverty researcher Prof. Dr. Christopher Butterwegge. He criticizes: "It's a patchwork of relief packages. It doesn't make any sense, we have to start granting assets."

Also present: Frank Tornau, IT entrepreneur from Leipzig and a commuter who says: "Soon it will no longer be worth working for fuel!"
