TV show: RTL announces the start date for the jungle camp – and announces an extension

The wait for fans of the jungle camp will soon be over. "I'm a start - get me out of here!" is back. After the difficult Corona years, the show can now start again at the well-known location in Australia.

RTL announced on Wednesday morning (December 14, 2022) when season 16 will start. "It's that time again: It's going to be jungle!" It said on the RTL Instagram account. The start date: Friday, January 13, 2023 at 9:30 p.m.

Friday the 13th is considered by many to be an unlucky day. The show makers seem to see it differently and ask on Instagram: "Is that a lucky day for our jungle stars?"

The jungle camp will be broadcast as a live show and fans can look forward to a new duo of moderators. Of course, jungle veteran Sonja Zietlow is back in the new season. At her side, Jan Köppen will moderate the popular TV show next year.

The jungle newcomer has great respect for his new job: "It's an incredibly successful, well-made show. You don't want to come in and destroy everything." But the duo gets along great even before the start of the show.

Twelve candidates will face the sometimes disgusting tests with cockroaches or spiders in the Australian jungle. RTL will announce shortly who will be there this time. Fans can not only watch the show live on TV, but also on the streaming service RTL. One day later than usual, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, the spectators will decide on the king of the jungle 2023 in the final. But before the big victory, fans can of course look forward to many hours in the jungle. The broadcaster will show the traditional reunion on the following Monday.

After the daily live show from the jungle, Angela Finger-Erben and Olivia Jones will talk to jungle experts, former candidates and relatives of the stars about what is happening in the jungle on "The Hour After".

The 15th season of the show had to be filmed in South Africa due to the corona pandemic. Filip Pavlovic was allowed to take the popular jungle crown home with him in the last season. In the end it was an exciting race between Eric Stehfest, Manuel Flickinger and the winner Filip Pavlovic.
