Travel planning 2023: Mallorca continues to attract visitors with low prices

The current year is coming to an end and many families are planning their Easter and summer holidays for the coming year. In 2023, Mallorca is and will remain the cheapest travel destination for families, as the early bird price analysis by "HolidayCheck" shows. Especially since inflation is also having an effect on the current travel prices, the early booking discounts of the various providers can be worthwhile for an inexpensive holiday on the Balearic Island.

As part of the price analysis, the prices of a one-week package holiday for two adults and two children between the ages of seven and eleven, including flight, transfer and hotel, were evaluated. Although vacationing in Mallorca has become more expensive, it is the cheapest compared to other most sought-after vacation spots. Malle vacationers have to pay 35 percent more compared to the 2019 vacation season.

During the Easter and summer holidays, a one-week package holiday costs an average of 3,202 euros. Christoph Heinzmann, tourism expert at "HolidayCheck", has an explanation for this: "Holidays are cheap where there are many flight connections and a wide range of hotels," he says.

For a week in Gran Canaria, a family will have to pay an average of 3,368 euros in the coming year. Four people can travel to the Turkish Riviera for 3,488 euros. If you want to spend your vacation in Egypt, Fuerteventura or Crete, you have to reckon with around 3,500 to 3,600 euros. Tenerife, Rhodes and Kos, on the other hand, will cost around 3,900 to 4,000 euros in 2023. Crete has recorded the largest price increase compared to 2019: travelers have to pay 71 percent more for holidays on the Greek island.

The higher travel prices in the coming year can be explained by the higher costs, especially in the areas of energy and personnel. "That has an effect on flight prices as well as on accommodation," says Heinzmann.

Although Dubai is an average of 18 percent cheaper than in previous years, it is still the most expensive destination in the top 10 most searched for family destinations. On average, a trip to the emirate for a family of four costs 5,695 euros per week.

But it's not just by choosing the right travel destination that you can save money. The right time of booking is also crucial. From now until March, organizers are offering early booking discounts. In addition, package tours ensure predictable costs and are usually cheaper. In addition, you should compare similar travel times. It is often cheaper to fly on a Sunday or during the week. On Saturdays, on the other hand, the classic bed change is more expensive because the demand is particularly high. In addition, it is often worth investing more in hotels with a good rating than in a high star category.
