Tom Cruise: That was his most dangerous stunt

For the new part of the "Mission: Impossible" series, Tom Cruise (60) dared the most dangerous stunt of his entire career.

In "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One" the actor jumps off a cliff with a parachute on a motorcycle. Cruise trained for it for a year.

The background of the breakneck stunt and the elaborate preparations for it were published in a behind-the-scenes video on Twitter. Here the stunt is even called the "biggest stunt in the history of cinema".

It's not just the extremely deep gorge into which Cruise plunges that is impressive. Even the hundreds of meters long ramp - built by the way with material that had to be flown into the mountains by helicopter - is formidable.

The almost ten-minute clip also shows how the actor spent a year preparing for the challenge. Cruise is said to have made around 500 parachute jumps and 13,000 motocross jumps in advance. In one sequence, he says he wanted to do this when he was a little kid. In another, he encourages himself: "Don't be careful, be confident."

Cruise finally performed the actual stunt over the ramp in Norway six times in one day - and is celebrated by the team for its professionalism. The film is slated to hit theaters in summer 2023.
