The Rolling Stones: Planned first album in 18 years?

It would be a sensation for rock fans: The Rolling Stones are scheduled to release a new album in summer 2023. It would be the first record with completely original songs in 18 years. As the British "The Sun" reports, Mick Jagger (79), Keith Richards (78) and Ronnie Wood (75) have allegedly sat down in New York for the first two weeks for the first recordings. In their new project, they have to do without drummer Charlie Watts (1941-2021), who died unexpectedly on August 24, 2021.

"After Charlie's death, there was some uncertainty as to how to proceed," an unspecified source told the paper. After some reflection, "they feel it's the right thing to do what they've always done as a band: make new music and hopefully get back on the road to bring it to their fans". The release of the new album in 2023 is likely to be accompanied by a major tour. Among other things, concerts would take place in the USA, South America and Europe.

Charlie Watts passed away last August at the age of 80. In the summer of 2022, the Stones toured Europe and were also on stage in Germany in June and July. The concerts of the "Sixty" tour were the band's first without Watts. Her last album with completely original songs was released in 2005 under the title "A Bigger Bang".
