The successful ProSieben show "The Masked Singer" starts its eighth season on Saturday, April 1st. The broadcaster announced this on Wednesday. Matthias Opdenhövel (52) will again lead through the popular music show. The advice team also remains the same with Ruth Moschner (46) and Rea Garvey (49). Together with a weekly guest, they puzzle over which stars are under the masks. There are no details yet on the creative costumes for the new season.

The interest in the popular music show seems unbroken: According to ProSieben, the fan base of "The Masked Singer" has recently grown. Accordingly, the show collected significantly more views in the autumn season compared to the spring season. Digitally and on social media, video views increased by 32 percent to 64 million views. The followers have given more than six million tips and comments, an increase of 9.5 percent, it is said. In the "JoynMe" app, "The Masked Singer" is also the most successful show with over two million interactions.

Actor and singer Daniel Donskoy (33, "Faking Hitler") won the last season of "The Masked Singer". Hidden under a mole costume, he delighted the audience and used his victory to draw attention to the situation of women in Iran. The 33-year-old prevailed in the final against singer Leslie Clio (36), entertainer Bürger Lars Dietrich (50) and comedian Rick Kavanian (52).
