"The Mandalorian": Screenplay for season four is already finished

After the much-acclaimed trailer for the third season of "The Mandalorian", fans can already look forward to further supplies. Series creator Jon Favreau (56) revealed to the French magazine "BFMTV Inside" that he wrote the scripts for season four during post-production for season three. The whole thing had to feel like "a sequel and a full story," Favreau continued.

But other productions in the "Star Wars" universe must also be taken into account when writing. Co-author Dave Filoni (48) is currently working on "The Mandalorian" spin-off "Ahsoka", which "I'm producing with him, but he's the author and showrunner on this series," Favreau explains. You have to understand what happens in the other series, or even in the upcoming coming-of-age story "Skeleton Crew", after all they all played "in the same 'Star Wars' time". So there is a lot to consider. Also things that "we've built upon in previous seasons of 'The Mandalorian'," the director continues.

One thing is certain: the interest in "The Mandalorian" is still unbroken. The third-season preview is the most-watched trailer for a Disney "Star Wars" series, the streaming service announced in January. The clip is said to have been clicked 83.5 million times in the first 24 hours. The trailer premiered on January 16 as part of a football game broadcast. Then the video was posted online. A shorter teaser for the new episodes has already been released.

In the trailer, the two main characters can be seen side by side again: The title hero and crowd favorite Grogu aka Baby Yoda, embodied by Pedro Pascal (47). At the end of the second season, the bounty hunter was separated from his foster son, only being reunited in the spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett.

The Mandalorian heads for his home planet in the new season. There he wants to rehabilitate himself. In the second season, he was disgraced for taking off his helmet in the presence of strangers. Season three of The Mandalorian begins March 1, 2023 at Disney.
