The fifth season of "The Crown" will be released on November 9, 2022. It is about the 1990s in the British royal family, it will end with the accidental deaths of Princess Diana (1961-1997) and Dodi Al-Fayed (1955-1997) on August 31, 1997. Netflix now has new pictures from the exciting expected season released.

In one of the photos heralded as "Welcome to the 90s," Elizabeth Debicki, 32, can be seen as Diana on a boat trip with her family. Dominic West (52) as Prince Charles, Teddy Hawley (7) as Prince Harry and Timothee Sambor (11) as Prince William have made themselves comfortable next to her on the boat. All four wear casual clothes and dark sunglasses.

The other pictures show the remaining main actors of the fifth "The Crown" season: Imelda Staunton (66) as Queen Elizabeth II can be seen alongside Jonathan Pryce (75) as Prince Philip. There are also first impressions of Claudia Harrison (46) as Princess Anne and Lesley Manville (66) as Princess Margaret. Jonny Lee Miller (49) transforms into Prime Minister John Major and a beaming Olivia Williams (54) becomes Camilla Parker Bowles, seen alongside Dominic West's Prince Charles.

The fifth season already made some headlines in advance. The background is fears that the series could affect the reputation of the new King Charles III. (73) harm. According to The Sun, the new episodes of The Crown will reportedly unearth "every painful detail" of Charles' marriage to the late Princess Diana.

The episodes will delve into "some of the most intimate aspects" of the broken marriage in the early 1990s. The then Prince of Wales was allegedly portrayed as "petty, cold and insidious". Such allegations were made when season four was released two years ago. The fictional TV show sees Charles repeatedly breaking out of his marriage to Diana and fleeing to his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles.

Charles and Diana, who married in 1981, separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996. Lady Di died in a car accident a year later. In 2005, Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles (75), who has been king's consort since his accession to the throne.
