According to the makers, the German Netflix mystery series "1899" will not be continued. "We would have loved to have ended this incredible journey with a second and third season, just like Dark," Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar wrote in English in an Instagram post on Monday. "But sometimes things just don't go as planned. That's life." Several media had reported on the end of the series. Netflix initially made no statement on the matter.

In eight episodes, "1899" tells of the mysterious events that took place during a ship's voyage from London to New York. The series by the "Dark" makers was produced in Berlin Babelsberg and was released on November 17th.
