Mrs Birkin, what's it like to be a legend? Do you sometimes wake up and think: Wow, I'm Jane Birkin? Really not. (laughs) What a curious question. Meanwhile I wake up and wonder where I am. At least that's how it felt for me this morning. I was Jane Birkin when nobody knew that name, and I was when times got worse and worse. In everyday life there is nothing to be gained from being a legend. But I'm happy my voice is there, it doesn't seem to be aging.

That's right! You know what never changes? The feelings I have while singing. When I'm on stage there is no yesterday and no today, I feel ageless.
