Royals: The program: Charles and Camilla in Germany

The state visit of the British King Charles III. From the point of view of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, next week will emphasize the many facets of the friendship between the two countries. The program for Charles and King Consort Camilla, officially published on Thursday, reflects "past, present and future," said the Presidential Office. Central themes are the common history, climate protection and sustainability.

Charles and Camilla are received with military honors by Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender on Wednesday afternoon (March 29) - unusually at the Brandenburg Gate. There, citizens should have the opportunity to see the British king up close. Steinmeier then invites you to a reception on the topic of energy transition and sustainability in Bellevue Palace. There will also be a state banquet with speeches by Charles and Steinmeier.

King Charles speaks in the Bundestag

Charles will also speak in the Bundestag on Thursday before he visits the Ukraine arrivals center in Berlin's former Tegel Airport with the Federal President. The two heads of state then drive to Finowfurt in Brandenburg and talk to soldiers from the German-British Engineer Bridge Battalion 130. They then visit the eco-village of Brodowin and learn about ecological farming and wetland protection.

The third and final day of the state visit begins on Friday in Berlin and then takes Charles and Camilla by train to Hamburg. Accompanied by Steinmeier and Büdenbender, they visit the "Kindertransport - The Last Farewell" memorial and lay a wreath at the St. Nikolai memorial - a memorial to the St. Nikolai church destroyed by British and American air raids in 1943.

At the town hall, the people of Hamburg should have the chance to meet the royal couple. A boat trip in the harbor is all about green energy and sustainability again. The state visit ends on Friday with a reception hosted by the British Embassy.
